The International Choir Festival SAN JUAN CANTA will take place in San Juan, Argentina, between June 19th - 24th, 2025.
Its main venue will be Auditorio Juan Victoria, located at Avenida 25 de Mayo 1215 oeste (San Juan).
A concert circuit will be prepared in various halls, museums and other venues of the city and surroundings for those choirs that wish to perform choral fraternity concerts, in addition to the performances of the Festival.

RULES OF THE FESTIVAL:
We recommend reading each of the items in the Regulations carefully before completing the application form.
- PARTICIPANTS - INTRODUCTION:
-
Mixed, female, male and/or chamber choirs. Children and youth choirs are also welcome.
A concert circuit in Auditorio Juan Victoria and other concert halls, museums and other cultural venues of the province will be organized.
Choirs will participate in three concerts:
Two Choral concerts, in a hall to be assigned, with a maximum duration of 35/40 minutes
One concert at Auditorio Juan Victoria, The total duration of the audition will be 15 minutes minimum -18 minutes maximum, net time of the stage (counting from the beginning of the first piece to the end of the last one) - REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS:

The repertoire to be performed in the Festival’s concerts will be chosen freely by each choir.
Dances, amplification and encores are not allowed.
C) MANDATORY WORKS OUT OF COMPETITION:
All choirs participating in SAN JUAN CANTA (in the Festival and Competition) must participate in the Closing Concert by performing the following mandatory works:- George Rathbone: “Rejoice in the Lord always”, for mixed choir and organ. It will be conducted by Tristan Meister (Jury - Germany) accompanied by Federico Ciancio (organ), taking advantage of the magnificent Walker organ at the Juan Victoria Auditorium.
- The final piece will be “Across the Vast, Eternal Sky” by Ola Gjeilo for mixed choir, strings and piano under the direction of T.J. Harper (President of the Jury - USA) with the participation of guest instrumentalists and Federico Ciancio on piano.
These works must be studied in advance, rehearsed beforehand and performed as closing works of SAN JUAN CANTA.

Application deadline: March 25th, 2025
To participate you must send by email to [email protected] or by postal mail the following material:
1 - Application form
2 - Short CV of the conductor (in .doc/.docx format - 300 words maximum) and the choir (also in .doc/.docx format - 300 words maximum)
3 - Two recent digital photos of the choir and director in high resolution (Minimum 1 Mb, in .jpeg or .png, color format)
4 - A recent recording (audio or video demo or link) with a minimum of 15 minutes of a cappella music, along with all scores of all recorded pieces.
5 - Concert program proposals, including:- lists of proposed works
- duration of each work
- complete names and dates of birth-death of the composers and arrangers
- ranslations into Spanish of all those works in other languages
- copies of all scores, complete and legible, of the proposed program. These programs may be modified until April 25th, 2025.
6 - Choir members list including full name, ID number, age and choir section (format Word or Excel). This list may be modified for reasons of force majeure until May 15th, 2025.
The data entered in the registration application have the value of an affidavit.
Incomplete shipments or after the indicated date will not be accepted.

Notes:- Particular attention is paid to the repertoire and quality of performance presented on the audition recording submitted with the application.
- The material sent will not be returned. All registered choirs must await notification of admission by the Organizing Committee.
- ADMITTANCE:

The Artistic Committee of SAN JUAN CANTA is responsible for the admission of the choirs to the Festival, based in the documentation and demos received.
Choirs will be notified of the selection results by April, 1st, 2025.
The complete list of participating choirs will be informed via e-mail and spread out publicly in the press and internet
Early-bird applications are welcome, and the organizers of SAN JUAN CANTA can provide an early confirmation to choirs when this is possible. - SELECTED CHOIRS: FINAL APPLICATION:

Selected choirs for the Festival must ratify their participation until April 20th, 2025 through a reliable communication sending a participation commitment letter and compliance with the Regulations to the Organizing Committee.

Visa requirements:
If a visa or other requirements to enter the country are necessary, they are the sole responsibility of the participating choir.
The process and cost of Visas are the sole responsibility of the choir. The organization will support a choir in its application through a letter on request. - TRANSPORTATION AND ACCOMMODATION COSTS:

For organizational and logistical reasons, the choirs must make their hotel reservations through the official agency of San Juan Canta, TURISMO VITTORIO. The agency will offer hotel alternatives in single, double, triple, multiple rooms in categories of 2, 3, 4 and 5 stars at your choice according to your possibilities.

- At the time of accreditation (Thursday, June 19th, 7pm at Club Sirio Libanés - Entre Rios 33 sur), each choir will deliver two (2) bound and sorted copies of the entire repertoire.
- Choirs undertake to respect these Regulations and to comply with all scheduled activities, not being able to carry out other performances in the province of San Juan outside of the Festival.
- The repertoire cannot be replaced after April 25th, 2025
- The scores must be in the key in which they will be interpreted and the works will be sung in their original language;
- It is contrary to law to perform music that has been reproduced illegally. Should a choir do so, the festival accepts no responsibility for any action taken by publishers.
- Dances, amplification and encores are not allowed;
- It is mandatory to observe strict punctuality and attendance at all festival activities, as well as mandatory compliance with the duration of the respective performances.
- The organization may modify the activities and general programming for reasons of force majeure.
- By registering, all participating choirs and artists grant the organizers unlimited and free of charge all legal rights to record and photograph all performances; as well as produce CDs and/or DVDs, publish and/or broadcast the performances by all means, among other purposes.
- The organization will assist applicants by sending an official invitation letter to all applicants.
- The organizers do not accept any responsibility for any kind of accident, illness, loss of luggage or other travel risks that may occur during SAN JUAN CANTA. It is requested by the Administration of Auditorio Juan Victoria to take your forecasts through travel insurance that include all kinds of medical and / or legal situations before arriving in San Juan.
- Any question of interpretation about of this Rules will be resolved on the official wording in Spanish.
- Any situation not contemplated in these Regulations will be resolved unilaterally by the Organizing Committee and its decision will be final and unappealable.
- CHORAL ACTIVITIES SCHEDULE:

1) Compulsory activities:
a) Accreditations: Thursday, June, 19th, 2025. at 7:00 pm. at Club Sirio Libanés (Entre Rios 33 sur)
b) Choral concerts (three in total) in schools, museums, and Auditorio Juan Victoria according to the schedule.
c) Rehearsals of the mandatory work.
d) Closing Ceremony by all choirs and Grand Gala Concert (performance of the winning choirs at Auditorio Juan Victoria) and Closing joint performance of the mandatory work: Monday June, 23rd, 8:00 pm.
The Jury can invite a choir of the Festival to participate in the final Grand Gala Concert on June 23rd, 2025 (To be confirmed)
2) Optional activities:
Conductors, singers, and other musicians who wish to participate individually can attend conferences and workshops. These activities are optional, so participants must complete the corresponding application form.
Social party: Friday, June 20th, 2025 at 8:00 pm. All participant choirs.
Concert tours: Choirs that wish to organize other concerts before or after the Competition will be provided with contacts in other provinces and neighboring countries. - GENERAL SCHEDULE 2025 (subject to change)
