RULES | GRAND PRIX SAN JUAN CANTA

The Grand Prix SAN JUAN CANTA will take place in San Juan, Argentina, between June 17 - 20, 2021.

Its main headquarters will be Auditorio Juan Victoria, located at Avenida 25 de Mayo 1215 oeste (San Juan)

A concert circuit will be prepared in various halls, museums and other spaces of the city and the surrounding departments for those choirs that wish to perform choral fraternity concerts, in addition to the performances of the Grand Prix.

Mixed, female, male, children-youth choirs and chamber amateur choirs (minimum 16 singers) are welcome. Also the winners of the first and second prizes of Ansilta, San Juan Canta and other partner international competitions (for example Tolosa, Arezzo, Béla Bartók, Cork, Marktoberdorf, Maribor and others alike) are invited to participate. Those choirs that won the first or second prize in the San Juan Canta 2018 Competition can also take part in the Grand Prix.

Those choirs that win the first or second prize of the San Juan Canta 2021 Contest (both categories) can also compete.

GRAND PRIX REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS

• The repertoire must include contrasting pieces, one of which can be folkloric (from the country of the performing choir) and can last no longer than 20 minutes.

• The winning choirs of the first and second prize of San Juan Canta 2021 that compete for the Grand Prix SAN JUAN CANTA are allowed to repeat one work only from the repertoire used for the Competition. The rest must be new repertoire for the GRAND PRIX that meets the requirements detailed before.

Mandatory work out of competition:

All choirs SAN JUAN SING (in Festival, Competition and Grand Prix) must necessarily participate in the closing concert performing "Let All the World in Every Corner Sing" by Ralph Vaughan Williams. It must be studied in advance, it will be previously rehearsed and it will be interpreted as a closing work of SAN JUAN CANTA conducted by a prestigious guest professional.

Any doubt about these requirements will be answered by the previous consultation with the President of the Artistic Committee Prof. María Elina Mayorga ([email protected]) or will be resolved by the Jury. The decision will be final.
