INTERNATIONAL CHORAL COMPETITION & FESTIVAL

SAN JUAN CANTA, International Choir Competition and Festival is proud to inform the international community of the participating choirs and the prizes awarded in the 2016 edition, as well as the details of the workshops and conferences offered.

- Camerata de la Luna conducted by Francisco Mensa (Argentina)
- Choir of the University School of Music conducted by Ana Laura Rey (Montevideo, Uruguay)
- Choir of the University of Guayaquil (mixed and female group) conducted by Fernando Gil Estrada (Ecuador)
- EVU - Estudio Vocal Universitario - conducted by Guido Vacca (Argentina)
- Ipsun Ensamble conducted by Máximo Díaz (Chile)
- SEIBO vocal group (Argentina)
- Vocal Cantigas conducted by Maria Fernanda Ferronato.

Together with them, the Choir of the Catholic University of Cuyo and the Choir Arturo Beruti (organizer and host) performed, both conducted by María Elina Mayorga.

In the category of Promotion of new choral formations participated ANANKÉ - Female Vocal Group directed by Leo Balistrere Godoy

As a guest group performed CORADICTOS, directed by Gonzalo Villalba, from Mendoza (Argentina) offering a special cycle of concerts in schools of public and private management.

We congratulate all, and especially the winners of SAN JUAN CANTA Competition.

The Jury awarded the following prizes by unanimity:

· FIRST PRIZE MIXED CHOIR CATEGORY awarded by the GOVERNMENT OF SAN JUAN consisting of Diploma, trophy and $ 40,000 .- (forty thousand Argentinian Pesos) to CAMERATA DE LA LUNA, conducted by Francisco Mensa (Villa Mercedes, San Luis, Argentina)

· SECOND PRIZE MIXED CHOIR CATEGORY, awarded by Coro Arturo Beruti, consisting of Diploma, trophy and $ 25,000 (twenty-five thousand Argentinian Pesos) to ESTUDIO VOCAL UNIVERSITARIO, conducted by Guido Vacca (from Mendoza, Argentina)

· SECOND PRIZE MALE OR FEMALE CHOIR CATEGORY, awarded by Coro Arturo Beruti, consisting of Diploma, trophy and $ 25,000 (twenty-five thousand Argentinian Pesos) to Vocal Cantigas, conducted by María Fernanda Ferronato (from Buenos Aires, Argentina)

· SPECIAL MENTION for best artistic performance during the SAN JUAN CANTA Competition to ANA LAURA REY (Conductor of the Choir of the University of Montevideo School of Music, Montevideo - Uruguay)

· SPECIAL MENTION for best interpretation of popular music to LATINOAMERICA (Calle 13 - 1978) by the Choir of the University of Guayaquil conducted by Fernando Gil Estrada.

· CHOIR MOST VOTED BY THE AUDIENCE PRIZE granted by FUNDACIÓN BANCO SAN JUAN consisting of Diploma and $ 7500 (seven thousand five hundred Argentinian Pesos) to the Choir of the University of Guayaquil directed by Fernando Gil Estrada.

In addition, lectures and workshops were given by the jury and invited professors:

- María Luisa Vega Amado: "The edition of choral repertoire, new possibilities and technological resources"
- Javier Busto: Meeting with the composer
- T.J. Harper: "Making choral music shine through the filling and balance"
- Marcia Hentschel: Joint Reading: an experience with Brazilian repertoire
- Naomi Faran: "Moran Choir and Israeli - Palestinian integration through choral singing"
- Lourdes Sánchez: "The international experiences of the Simón Bolívar National Youth Choir"
- Sergio Carlevaris: Singing and Vocal Technique Workshop
